Home staging is a proven solution. Although statistics vary slightly, they all show that staged homes sell more quickly.
Staging still works in a down market!
Based on a Stagedhomes.com survey of over 1000 homes, staged homes spent 80% less time on the market than did non-staged homes. Homes (55% vacant, 45% occupied) across Canada and the Continental US were prepared for sale by an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP) from November, 2008 through May, 2009.
. 94.8% of ASP Staged homes sell in 37 days or less.
. Non-Staged homes sell on average in 182 days or more.
The Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) provides the following statistics for 2008:
Un-staged vacant homes on the market for an average of 109 days remained unsold. They were then taken off the market, staged, and relisted. On average, these homes then sold in 28 days - 85% less time on the market while staged!
Un-staged occupied homes on the market for an average of 57 days remained unsold. They were then taken off the market, staged, and relisted. On average, these homes then sold in 6 days - 89% less time on the market while staged!
"Your investment in ASP Home Staging will always be less than your first price reduction".

Results summarize 2009 HomeGain Survey of almost 1,000 real estate agents nationwide. It is based on areas of home improvement identified by real estate agents in HomeGain's original survey in 2003. They are listed from the highest to lowest average return on investment. (Statistics found on HomeGain Real Estate Blog.)
For a typical investment of less than $1100, a staged home sells much more quickly and for more money than a non-staged home. Can you afford not to stage?
